Applying for a Permanent Certified Position
To apply for a NYS Certified position at PRSD (teacher, administrator, teaching assistant or school nurse), log on to OLAS (Online Application System for Educators). Only online applications are accepted - individuals who mail-in or drop-off their resume will not be considered without an online application through OLAS. Teaching Assistants must have a NYS Teaching Assistant certificate and hold a Bachelors degree. If you are not yet NYS certified, you may be hired as a substitute teaching assistant until you achieve your certification. Please check the NYSED.gov website for more information.

Applying for a Permanent Non-Certified Position
Non-certified positions related to clerical, secretarial, maintenance, and grounds are filled in accordance with Civil Service rules and regulations. The majority of these positions require passing a NYS Civil Service test. Please visit the Rockland County Department Personnel website for a list of Open Competitive Exams. Maintenance Mechanic I
12-month position, 40-hour work week.
Salary $24.94 per hour. Benefits eligible.
Skilled mechanical work in one or more trade areas involving the maintenance of buildings and their appurtenances; public works structures; various types of machinery; and mechanical assemblies. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level mechanic and/or supervisor, and occasional work guidance may be provided to a small number of assistants and helpers. Employees in this class may be on call at times other than their regularly scheduled hours. Substitute School Nurse positions are filled on a per diem basis when one of our nurses is out sick or on a field trip. All applicants must currently be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse. Please complete the attached application and call the Human Resources and Community Services Office at 845-620-3918 for an interview. You will need to bring the completed application, your professional license, CPR certificate and three professional reference letters to the interview. At least two of the reference letters must be from individuals in a supervisory position. Please note that all substitute nurses must be fingerprinted and cleared as per NYSED requirements.
